THE GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO VICE AND VIRTUE DISCUSSION

Hey guys!

This month we were reading The Gentleman’s Guide To Vice And Virtue by Mackenzi Lee. I hoped you read it and enjoyed it! I picked this book for it’s cuteness and the LGBTQ+ rep in this! I read it for the Inky Awards last year so my memory is a bit dusty but I have a few notes:

POSTIVES:

-Good disability rep (YAY REPRESENTATION!!!)
-Diversity is here! Percy was dark skinned
-It’s loud and queer! Percy and Monty were both gay characters AND I WAS HERE FOR IT!
-Monty. Full stop. Party king Monty who loves to drink and gets into heaps of trouble oh god I loved him so much XD
-The whole puzzle thing at the end (trying not to spoil)
-Pirates Enough said
-The travels through Europe
-The writing style
-How lighthearted it was despite being an adventure book
-Felicity does stuff and is not sidelined as a character
-Epilepsy representation
-It does not have that much homophobic content which is great because we don’t have time for that negativity!
-Historical context on point
-Really well researched ^^
-I could relate to all the characters and had a soft spot for them all! <3

Honestly I have no negatives!!

What did you think?
Did you enjoy this one?

I might have forgotten about this month’s book club read, but I did read it towards the end of June, and overall, I must say I agree with what you have said. I really enjoyed the novel as a whole and I can’t think of anything that I didn’t like that much on top of my head right now, which I think is always a good thing, as I remember it being a really good book. :)
