Announcing the book of the month for May!

Hi everyone and welcome to May, where I am announcing the book of the month for Between the Pages. I hope that everyone is taking care out there and staying safe and that we can all enjoy a book together. This month, I decided to pick a book that will hopefully end up being quite fun and easy for everyone to read, so we will be reading a graphic novel this month, which shall be Pumpkinheads by Rainbow Rowell and illustrator Faith Erin Hicks.

According to Goodreads, it is a YA contemporary romance and I hope that it is happy to bring some joy into everyone’s lives. I haven’t read it, so I don’t know if it will, though looking at the reviews, it does seem to be quite good and cute, which is obviously very important since we all need some cuteness in our lives.

Here’s the synopsis –

Deja and Josiah are seasonal best friends.

Every autumn, all through high school, they’ve worked together at the best pumpkin patch in the whole wide world. (Not many people know that the best pumpkin patch in the whole wide world is in Omaha, Nebraska, but it definitely is.) They say good-bye every Halloween, and they’re reunited every September 1.

But this Halloween is different—Josiah and Deja are finally seniors, and this is their last season at the pumpkin patch. Their last shift together. Their last good-bye.

Josiah’s ready to spend the whole night feeling melancholy about it. Deja isn’t ready to let him. She’s got a plan: What if—instead of moping and the usual slinging lima beans down at the Succotash Hut—they went out with a bang? They could see all the sights! Taste all the snacks! And Josiah could finally talk to that cute girl he’s been mooning over for three years . . .

What if their last shift was an adventure?

And there you go. It definitely sounds really interesting and I hope that it does end up being so. Happy reading and also please don’t spoil anything below under this post! As always, the discussion will begin on the last day of the month.
